WORKOUT ANYTIME's Business Model Allows Semi-Absentee Owners to Thrive
Kevin Edmonds, one of WORKOUT ANYTIME's area developers, explains how the brand's training and support system gives its franchisees flexibility.

Kevin Edmonds’ professional career has always been fueled by his entrepreneurial spirit. Between operating restaurants, night clubs and hotels, he’s built up years of experience running his own businesses. But it wasn’t until he decided to break into the franchising industry with WORKOUT ANYTIME that he was able to combine his passion for the fitness industry with his day job.

“Health and fitness is always something that I’ve enjoyed, and I believe that if you have a passion for something, you can make it work professionally. That’s why I decided to get involved with WORKOUT ANYTIME,” said Edmonds. “The brand stood out to me right away because it had the best business model in the industry. It was clear to me that WORKOUT ANYTIME had the potential to grow, and that’s proven to be correct. Five years ago we had 15 locations, and by the end of this year we’ll have 140.”

Now, Edmonds works as an area developer for both North and South Carolina, while operating two WORKOUT ANYTIME locations of his own. Because he has so much on his plate and oversees a team of franchisees, he embraces the flexibility and simplicity of the brand’s model by working as a semi-absentee owner.

I have some owners that are 100 percent absentee and others that are incredibly active, while I fall somewhere in between. But the beauty in the WORKOUT ANYTIME model is that no matter our involvement, we’re all making it work,” said Edmonds. “The brand has checks and balances in place that enable local owners to run their business as they see fit, and the support system is second to none.”

That support system starts as soon as franchisees sign on to open their own location. The brand offers extensive training for both local owners and managers, and gives everyone involved in operations the resources and tools they need to succeed. WORKOUT ANYTIME also boasts a network of industry experts, from experienced fitness professionals to marketing and social media masters. That network is constantly available to other members of the brand’s system so they can learn from one another’s experiences.

“Our main goal is to help our franchisees succeed, whether they’re semi-absentee owners or completely hands-on. WORKOUT ANYTIME’s entire infrastructure is set up to encourage growth on both the local and corporate levels,” said Randy Trotter, vice president of franchise development for WORKOUT ANYTIME. “At the end of the day, we’re willing to tailor our system to our franchisees so they can see the best possible results.”
